Jackson County, Missouri, has discovered the most effective way to stabilize and
secure schools and a community is to reinforce the family. Welcome to Jackson
County Family Week, a successful reinforcement. Our goal is
to focus attention on family life and to promote an attitude of

Family Week's humble birthplace came by way of six enthusiastic moms in an
elementary school PTA. Due to their passion, blended with hard work,
tremendous growth, and development,
Family Week has transitioned into a
community celebration, with many volunteers. In fact, Family Week is no
longer a project. It is a way of life. The significance of family is
spreading throughout the year.

As a parent it is difficult to make time, in a busy schedule, for family.
Charles Francis Adams,
the grandson of the second president of United States
was a successful lawyer, a member of U.S. House of Representatives, and
ambassador to Britain. Amidst his responsibilities, he had little time to
spare. He did, however, keep a diary. One day he wrote, "Went fishing with
my son today - a day wasted!" On that same date, Charles's son, Brooks Adams,
had printed in his own diary, "Went fishing with my father today - the most
wonderful day of my life". What lifetime memories are you creating in the
lives of your children?

entertainment, education, and rewards. Family Time incentives, with grand
prizes are placed throughout the community. Add to the celebration, a
huge Family Health Fair, "Family of the Year" Dinner and Recognition,
Park Photo Contest, Community wide Scavenger Hunt, Art and Essay Contests,
and gold ribbon tied everywhere. Monday Family Day runs all year long.
